2016 LEGISLATIVE AGENDA

Federal Legislative Agenda

Flood Insurance Reform– Support extending the reforms of the federal flood insurance program to business properties and owner-occupied second homes, ensuring that these properties receive the same relief already provided to residential properties and single-family homes.

Offshore Drilling– Oppose any change to the existing federal or state laws that relate to offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

Internet Sales Tax – Support legislation allowing for sales tax to Internet sales transactions.


State Legislative Agenda

Tourism Marketing Funding- Support continued funding of Visit Florida to ensure our state’s continued competitiveness in the area of tourism-oriented marketing.

Sports Incentives -Support providing incentives to encourage the growth and development of organized sporting events and competitions at all levels, recognizing that such activities are important economic drivers.

Florida Based Approach to Private Sector Insurance – Support the Florida Legislature to create a plan to extend health care coverage to the uninsured, help our hospitals, and change the paradigm of managing health care help lower overall healthcare costs to all.


Offshore Drilling
– Oppose any change to the existing federal or state laws that relate to offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.


Regional Transportation Authority
- Support consolidation of all organizations that exist to regionally plan and develop all aspects of transportation within the Greater Tampa bay Region.   Support adequate funding of alternative multi-modal transportation that enhance regional mobility.


Internet Sales Tax
– Support legislation allowing for sales tax to Internet sales transactions.


Education
– Support increased funding for workforce development, training and continued education programs to help the unemployed, career progression, and retention.


Commercial Sales Tax
- Support legislation that would reduce or eliminate sales tax for commercial properties.
